Hey

Here's my journey leading up to listening to the album -

I heard about the new album coming out and started getting stoked.
I went to the Cool Tour, heard the new song [Which I now know is "Illuminator"] and got even more stoked.
As soon as pre-orders went up on District Lines, September 9th, to be exact, I pre-ordered a deluxe edition pack.
I received one of the album cover puzzle pieces in the mail and uploaded it to this website.
I watched every single studio update as soon as it came out.
I entered the Illuminator remix contest - probably spent 40 - 50 hours recording and tracking minus learning the guitar and bass parts.
I promoted the album like crazy.
I had to wait two days after the release date to hear the album because of sluggish performance by District Lines. I didn't listen to the leak when it came out.

This being said - I was in high hopes of a great album. I think I could not have been more stoked.

And now. And now. I have the album in my hands. I just listened for my second time. All I can say is - EXCELLENT. EXCELLENT. EXCELLENT. Seriously. I give this album a 10 of 10. I love Define the Great Line and Lost in the Sound of Separation, but I truly think this album surpasses both. Daniel brings a whole new dynamic to the band with his extensive percussion performance.

I'm in love with this album. The hype y'all built got me stoked. And when it was in my hands, it did not disappoint. In any way. Kudos, my friends. Keep on pursuing what God has for you and He will continue to bless you.

Seriously... If this band loves the Lord and does everything to bring Him glory; who are we to judge their hearts

the main shirts that concern me are: http://www.districtlines.com/designs/21371/obey-eye-store-.jpg
http://www.districtlines.com/designs/21441/EYE-.jpg

The Eye in the center of the shirt either (1) A universal symbol representing spiritual sight, inner vision, higher knowledge, insight into occult mysteries or (2) Masonic symbol for the all-seeing eye of god - an mystical distortion of the omniscient (all-knowing) Biblical God. Google

LIGHTNING BOLT: In ancient mythologies from many cultures (Norse, Roman, Greek, Native American, etc.) the lighting bolt would be hurled by male sky gods to punish, water, or fertilize the earth or its creatures. Navajo myths linked it to the Thunderbird, the symbol of salvation and divine gifts. On children's toys, it represents supernatural power. Double bolts, popular with contemporary skinheads, symbolize Nazi power.

SERPENT OR SNAKE: Most earth-centered or pagan cultures worshipped the serpent. It represents rebirth (because of its molting), protection against evil, either male of female sexuality, rain and fertility, a mediator between the physical and spiritual world.... It also represents female energy or lifeforce in goddess worship, sometimes linked to the eastern Kundalini force or a supposed "goddess within." The list of meanings is endless, but in the Bible it usually represents sin, temptation, destruction, and Satan

Also this shirt: http://www.districtlines.com/designs/17093/owl_mock.jpg

OWL: Cherokee [Indian] shamans viewed Eastern Screech-Owls as consultants on punishment and sickness. The Cree believed that the whistle-sounds of the Boreal Owl was a summoning call to the spirit world. Other Native American traditions hold that the owl represents vision and insight. In Africa the owl is associated with witchcraft and sorcery. Australia, China, Greenland, India, Indonesia, Japan, Russia and Sweden all have cultures or mythical traditions that give spiritual significance to the owl. Probably one of the most bizarre occurrences of owl symbolism can be found at the "Bohemian Club." Just google "Bohemian Club" to get more info as it is way to complex to post it all here.

this one just seems strange to me but i dont know why: http://www.districtlines.com/designs/21370/SEAL-STORE.jpg

Underoath did a live chat earlier today, and someone asked about the "Illuminati" shirts, and Chris said something to the effect of:

"What's up with this? We've been hearing a lot about this lately. The truth is, we're an openly Christian band, we're not in a cult or some secret Satan worshippers or anything, we just saw the designs and thought they looked cool. That's it."

Thanks for this comment. It stilled the small amount of doubt I had. =)

The All Seeing Eye does not even necessarily refer to the Illuminati, people! It stands for illumination, whatever kind of illumination that may be!

These guys have said that they are Christian and would not have it be otherwise. They are faithful to preach the gospel, so stop destroying their ministry by fighting over secondary matters!

Cannot wait to see you guys this friday at Headliners.

yahwehsninja's picture

why do you guys have Illuminati symbols in your merch?

Illuminator. I think the band is trying to expose the new world order agenda.
